Pakistani Taliban Attack‌ kills 16 Soldiers

A suicide bombing in North Waziristan, a district in Pakistan’s ​Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has left ​16 soldiers‌ dead and more than two dozen others wounded, including civilians. ​The Pakistani Taliban⁣ claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to a local goverment official, the suicide ⁣bomber used a vehicle laden with explosives⁤ to target⁢ a military convoy.The official,who spoke on condition of anonymity,noted the rising death toll from an earlier count‌ of 13.

A local police officer reported that the blast caused the collapse of two nearby houses, resulting in injuries ⁣to‌ six children.

The⁢ suicide bomber ⁢wing of the Hafiz Gul⁤ Bahadur ‍armed group, a‌ faction within the Pakistan Taliban,⁢ claimed responsibility for the ‍deadly attack.This incident ​underscores the escalating violence in regions⁢ bordering Afghanistan since the Taliban’s resurgence in Kabul in 2021.

Islamabad has accused Afghanistan of allowing its territory to be used for attacks against Pakistan, a claim the Taliban‍ leadership disputes. ​Since the begining of the year, approximately 290‍ people, primarily ‍security officials, have been killed in attacks by armed groups fighting the ‌government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
