Rep. Choi Kang-wook, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, responded to the controversy over sexual harassment remarks raised on the 2nd by issuing a statement and refusing to make sexually harassing remarks.

On that day, Park Ji-hyeon, chairman of the Democratic Party’s emergency countermeasures committee, inquired about the possibility of disciplinary action if the allegations were true, and it is known that he mentioned the situation related to this issue at the party’s high-level strategy meeting.

However, in the process, Rep. Choi Kang-wook asked the lawmaker, “Are you doing this because of XXX?” The controversy arose that he used the word ‘XXX’ with a sexual meaning.

After the meeting, one of the videoconference attendees reported to the Democratic Party Advisory Council (Minbohyup) that there was a problem with Rep. Choi Kang-wook’s remarks.

However, he added, “I would like to express my regrets to the attendees for the fact that the remarks caused misunderstandings and made you feel uncomfortable regardless of the context before and after the remarks.”

However, the current controversy has not been closed within the Democratic Party of Korea, but rather points to the possibility of disciplinary action against Rep. Choi Kang-wook.
