“Yeonkyung unnie and the other unnies had a lot of trouble…”

Park Jeong-ah (28, Korea Expressway Corporation) struggled to hold back her tears. The Tokyo Olympics became a precious memory. However, he said, “I feel like I’m going to cry,” and poured out regrets that I couldn’t do better. It was a pity that role model Kim Yeon-kyung (33, Shanghai) finished fourth in the last Olympics.

After losing in the women’s volleyball bronze medal match at the Tokyo Olympics on the 8th, Park Jung-ah said, “It’s unfortunate, but anyway, my goal was to make it to the quarterfinals, so I’m proud. However, if you are too greedy, you can go wrong, so we decided to try as much fun as possible.”

The volleyball team arrived in Tokyo, Japan on July 20. He also attended the opening ceremony. Thanks to the bronze medal match (?), the closing ceremony is over and he boards a flight to Korea on August 9th. He stayed in Tokyo throughout the Olympics even when he returned home immediately after the schedule was over due to COVID-19.

Park Jung-ah said, “It was a very enjoyable experience to participate in the opening ceremony. I remember the most when we won the Japan match and the victory against Turkey. I think it will be a good memory.” “It’s a little hard, but it’s over, so I can rest after I go home. It’s not that there were a few difficult moments, there were hardly any days off, and it was hard to be confined. It was hard because there was no way to relieve the stress, but I was able to endure it all and achieve what I set out to do.”

The Olympics were special for Park Jung-ah. After washing away from the 2016 Rio Olympics, he was nicknamed ‘Clutch Park’. Kim Yeon-kyung was active as an attack option to support her.

However, role model Kim Yeon-kyung’s last Olympics was only disappointing.

Park Jung-ah said, “Yeon-kyung unnie and the other sisters have all had a lot of trouble until now.” “If I had done a little better, the unnies would have been better, but I’m sorry, and I feel that way.” I think I’m going to cry,” he said, holding back tears.

He continued, “Leaving my career, I think it will remain as a good memory. I think I will be able to develop further with this Olympics as an opportunity.”
