Fusion Supermarket Closes After Seven Years in Nam Cheong
The fusion branch at Nam Cheong V Walk was originally a large-scale tenant featuring multiple hot food counters with Chinese, Western, Japanese, Korean, and Thai options when it opened in 2019. The store began shrinking in 2023 by returning its original hot food space, which was later taken over by the sushi chain Sushiro, before deciding to close down entirely. Store notices confirm that the supermarket will officially end operations on September 27.

Two Farewell Discounts Offered for Remaining Shoppers
To mark the closure, the store has introduced two specific promotions for customers. PARKnSHOP is directing customers to use these 94-percent-off coupons between September 28 and October 12 at nearby branches in Aqua Marine or Hoi Lai Estate, helping retain local shoppers within the broader retail network.
Broader Business Restructuring Across Hong Kong
The Nam Cheong closure forms part of a wider realignments strategy by PARKnSHOP across Hong Kong. Since June of last year, the supermarket chain has shuttered nine physical outlets across different neighborhoods, including locations in Tin Shui Wai’s Kingswood Richfield Commercial Building, Causeway Bay Plaza, Tsing Yi Cineplex Phase 2, Shek Tong Tsui’s Shek Tong Tsui Street, Tai Wo Hau Estate, Sai Kung Town Centre, Aberdeen Tin Wan Shopping Centre, Mong Kok’s Charming Garden, and Wong Tai Sin’s Chuk Yuen Estate.

Resident Concerns Over Local Retail Choices
The persistent wave of closures has sparked worry among nearby residents concerning a lack of alternative grocery options. Social media reactions highlighted disappointment over losing the V Walk branch, with residents noting it was the only PARKnSHOP in the area that felt bright and spacious compared to darker, cramped alternatives. While some questioned how local foot traffic could sustain the retail space given the density of surrounding housing, others expressed concern that only a single, narrow Wellcome supermarket remains directly across the street to serve the neighborhood.
PARKnSHOP has closed nine physical grocery locations across Hong Kong since June of last year as part of an ongoing operational readjustment.
