While detectives from the Mostazal Robbery Investigative Brigade were traveling through the northeastern sector of Rancagua, they realized that a group of subjects, who were traveling in a car, intercepted a second vehicle and hit it with blunt elements, threatening the victim with a firearm. the couple that traveled inside.
Due to the event witnessed, the PDI personnel intervened and identified themselves to control the situation, at which point they were repelled by one of the aggressors, who fired repeatedly at the police officers. The detectives responded to the attack using their service weapons, managing to arrest one of the defendants at the scene and another inside a nearby home where he hid after trying to flee. The rest of those involved managed to escape, so the PDI is working to find their identity and whereabouts. The arrests were reported to the prosecutor on duty, who instructed that both subjects, aged 21 and 37 – the last of them with police records for reception, theft and micro-trafficking – be placed at the disposal of the Rancagua Guarantee Court, for their corresponding detention control, as defendants for the frustrated homicide against the couple they were attacking, as well as against the police officials. At the hearing, they were ordered preventive detention for 180 days, a period that was established for the investigation.
Likewise, the Investigative Police announced that the injured official was diagnosed with less serious injuries, since these correspond only to superficial erosions.
