Passengers’ mobile phones stolen; Dubai airport employee jailed

Dubai airport employee jailed for three months in jail The Dubai Criminal Court ordered his deportation after his imprisonment.

A 29-year-old Asian man told the court during the investigation that he had sold six mobile phones stolen from his bag at half price to buy expensive sunglasses. Defendant was arrested in March 2021 on a complaint that an Asian traveler had lost six mobile phones in his suitcase when he returned home. A team of CID officials conducted an investigation and checked the surveillance cameras and found the accused.

The public prosecution issued a warrant to search the defendant’s residence to find the stolen mobile phones, sunglasses and other accessories. During interrogation, the porter confessed that he had stolen mobile phones and sold five of them for 10,000 dirhams at a shop selling used mobile phones. He said the money was used to buy Dh5,000 worth of sunglasses, a camera, a mobile phone, a wireless headset and other items.
