Recently, many mass media and social networking sites have reported multidimensional information about unreasonable increases in air ticket prices.
Leaders of the Ministry of Transport have directed to strengthen state management, strictly control air ticket prices, contribute to price stabilization, and ensure harmony of socio-economic development goals in accordance with the law. direction of the Government and Prime Minister; Request the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to urgently review and immediately inspect ticket sales, declare and list prices, and make public and transparent information on airline ticket prices.
Along with inspecting ticket sales activities, declaration and listing of air ticket prices, the Vietnam Aviation Administration recommends that individuals, organizations and customers buy air tickets from Vietnamese airlines during the period of time. (especially from the beginning of 2024 until now) reflect authentic information and documents about having to buy air tickets at high prices compared to regulations (in Circular No. 17 dated May 3, 2019, Circular No. 34 November 30, 2023… of the Minister of Transport) via mail: phananhgiave@caa.gov.vn.
Respondents are requested to clearly state the passenger’s full name, contact phone number, ticket itinerary, ticket price, images of invoices, documents, money transfer receipts… to contribute to quick and timely clarification. rectify and handle violations (if any).
Previously, a lot of information reflected that rising air ticket prices had a direct impact on people’s travel needs, especially during peak occasions such as the recent holidays of April 30 and May 1. to the development of the tourism industry.
According to the Vietnam Aviation Administration, from the beginning of 2024 until now, the average economy class ticket prices of Vietnamese airlines have increased compared to the same period in 2023, an increase from 11% to 49.6%.
However, despite the increase, the average ticket price is still only 38.1% to 77.6% compared to the maximum price according to regulations.
Explaining the reason for the increase in air ticket prices, the Vietnam Aviation Administration said this is a general trend in the world due to the main reasons including: High fuel prices; foreign currency exchange rate differences; The engine recall of Manufacturer Pratt&Whitney (PW) affects the reduction of the world’s operating aircraft fleet, the reception of new aircraft and the increase in maintenance costs of aircraft that are out of service; Airplane rental prices increased; Air transport supply and demand situation.
