On the 26th, Tsukuba International Pet College (Numata, Tsukuba City, President Haruhisa Togo) rented out the adjacent dog theme park “Tsukuba Wan Wan Land” for one day and held the school festival “15th Dog Friends Festival”. ) was held. Forty-two second-year students in the dog trainer course performed dance and acrobatics with their dog partners, who have spent their entire student lives together. In a performance titled “Only One,” the students showed off the results of their one-and-a-half year experience with each dog partner, marking the finale of the school festival. When he succeeded, the audience erupted into loud applause.
To avoid crowding, general participation was canceled and the event was held only for alumni, families, and other related parties, and about 2,000 people gathered. There are approximately 500 current students, and the event also serves as a reunion for alumni.
The second-year students in the dog groomer course, who aim to become dog hairdressers, planned an experience session where they could take pictures with dogs and make bibs for their dogs and accessories for themselves.
Second-year students in the pet animal nurse course and the animal health nursing course held a haunted house at the attached animal medical center, titled “Wow!! Surprise House.” Third-year students in the same course made toys sized to match their pet dogs and held a project called “Let’s Play with Dogs.”
The second-year students in the pet care comprehensive course plan a dog race that is popular with visitors every year. The race was held with pet dogs selected from among the partner dogs that students at the school spend time with every day.
A gourmet contest was also held in the park, with 12 teams setting up mock stalls selling food such as hamburgers, oden, and ramen.
Ago Honjo (22), a graduate who came from Chikusei City with her pet dog and her family, said, “I graduated three years ago and I feel very nostalgic.It was a difficult time due to the coronavirus pandemic, but I hope I can do a good job as a trainer.” I want to do my best,” he said.
