Paws-itively Unforgettable: Maria Naganawa and Fairouz Ai Unleash Their Inner Canines in a Wild Birthday Bash for Seki Tomokazu
ABEMA broadcast “Voice Actors’ Night Out Friday[Seki Tomokazu x Fairouz Ai]#17” on its Anime LIVE Channel from 10:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024.
“Seiyuu to Yoasobi” is an original daily program by ABEMA, the first and only in the industry where popular voice actors team up to host every Monday through the weekend.
In this broadcast, Maria Naganawa, from the movie “Wonderful Pretty Cure! The Movie! A Thrilling Adventure in the Game World!”, made a guest appearance. In addition to introducing the appeal of the movie, a “Seki Tomokazu Birthday SP” was also held to celebrate Seki-san’s 52nd birthday on Sunday, September 8th. In order to win a reward for Seki-san, Naganawa and Fairouz performed a collaborative project called “Doggie Challenge Round 3!” in which they pretended to be dogs and fought hard.
Tomokazu Seki is confused by his 52nd birthday present “52-point full-body massage”: “It feels like I’m being tortured”
In the broadcast of “Seki Tomokazu Birthday SP”, Seki appeared while receiving treatments from a total of six estheticians. It was a birthday present from the program, hoping to heal the busy Seki, but in the chaotic situation of being massaged in 52 places at once to commemorate his 52nd birthday, Seki was extremely confused, saying, “What on earth is going on!? I’m the most confused,” and “It feels like I’ve been captured and tortured.” The program started with everyone laughing.

During this broadcast, a collaboration project was carried out with the movie “Wonderful Precure! The Movie! A Thrilling Adventure in the Game World!”, in which guest Maria Naganawa appears. “Wonderful Precure!” is the first work in the series to feature a dog Precure, and tells the story of Komugi, the pet dog of Iroha, a girl who loves animals, who fights alongside Iroha as a Precure. This time, a segment was held titled “Doggie Challenge Round 3!”. Naganawa, who plays Komugi, and Fairouz transformed into dogs and took on a mission with Seki’s requested sweet treat as the prize.

Putting on “dog ears” that were prepared to help them become more like dogs, the two first took on the “Paw! Bone Carrying Challenge,” in which they put on paw gloves and carried scattered bone toys to a container. Although the fluffy gloves made it hard for the two to grasp things, they demonstrated their natural dexterity and completed the challenge with ease.

Next up was the “Communicate with ‘Woof’! Woof Woof Message Challenge,” a message game where participants communicate a given word to the other person using only the word “woof.” The two spouted off cute dog-like language, with Smartphone saying “Woof-woof,” Tulip saying “Woof-woof,” and Tonchinkan saying “Woof-woof,” but the other person couldn’t understand them at all, causing a fuss. Seeing the two pass each other like this, Seki commented, “Both the questioner and the answerer looked stupid in a good way (laughs). It was adorable,” drawing laughter.

And in the final “Guess the food with just your sense of smell! Sniff-sniff challenge,” Seki did something unexpected. Dogs have a keen sense of smell, so in this game the two were blindfolded and had to guess the given food by smell alone. Despite desperately sniffing, they couldn’t guess the fish sausage, and as time was fast approaching, the two began to get anxious. Then, desperate to get a sweet treat, Seki shouted out “Fish?” just before the time limit, and the other two replied “Sausage!”, and the game ended. With the hint now out of the question, an emergency meeting was about to be held with the staff, and the studio was filled with laughter as Seki innocently said, “Yeeeaah! You got it right,” and “Success!”
So, although there was some “cheating,” Seki-san managed to get the three sweets. The sweets that Seki-san said he “wanted to eat even with the help of the program” appeared, and Seki-san was delighted as he enjoyed his reward, saying “This is crazy!” and “Yum, it’s the best!”
Furthermore, the program also featured a value sharing game called “ito” as an exhibition. The cards in hand were numbered from 1 to 100, and the players had to express the size of the numbers written on them in a way that suited the theme, then line them up in order while communicating with each other. The key to this game was the degree to which players could empathize with the image. This time, the theme was “lines a Yankee would say,” and Naganawa’s cute voice erupted with Yankee slang, such as “I’ll kill you!” and “You, go buy me some yakisoba bread!” The studio was filled with laughter at the lines that were far removed from Naganawa’s image.
