PCL announced on the 21st that its HiSU blood sorter has been granted registration approval by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) under the Kenyan Ministry of Health.

This permission is a subsequent measure by the Kenyan Minister of Health and Welfare following the last Kenyan president’s visit to Korea, and PCL expects it to be an opportunity to actively participate in Kenya’s health business. In particular, the company explained that the procedure for registering the high-speed blood sorter seems to have gone smoothly, sympathizing with the need to establish an advanced system in the local blood market in Kenya.

Blood screening is a necessary process prior to the transfusion of donated blood. This is because it can cause fatal medical accidents when blood is mixed with viruses, which are the causes of AIDS, hepatitis C or B, and syphilis.

The strength of the Hysu blood sorter is that it sorts thousands of blood samples quickly and accurately in a short time. Not only PCL reagents, but also other reagents can be used flexibly. In 2016, it received grade 4 approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

HISU’s registration permission period is a total of 5 years from March 17 to March 16, 2028. PCL intends to provide multi-diagnostic reagents for various high-risk viruses such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis C virus (HCB), and human papilloma virus (HPV).

PCL CEO Kim So-yeon said, “Based on Kenya, we plan to move on to neighboring African countries such as Congo and Nigeria.”
