Peak Experiences Await: 9th Ulsan Ulju World Mountain Film Festival Unveils Thrilling Indie Lineup
9th Ulsan Ulju World Mountain Film Festival: A Celebration of Nature and Human Connection
The 9th Ulsan Ulju World Mountain Film Festival, led by Executive Director Um Hong-gil, promises to deliver a diverse range of experience programs alongside film screenings. This year’s festival aims to provide a rich experience for attendees through various themes, including environmental protection, nature exploration, art creation, and children’s experiences.
Environmental Protection and Art Creation
The ‘Wood Theater - Upcycling Wood Frame Making‘ program is a standout experience that raises awareness about environmental protection. Under the guidance of Wood Theater’s CEO Kim San, participants will create their own wooden frames by recycling discarded trees, learning the importance of sustainability through hands-on activities.
Nature Exploration and Adventure
For those seeking to connect with nature, the ‘Baesong-dong Yeongnam Alps Journey’ program offers a unique experience. Guided by author Baesong-dong, who has spent 30 years studying the Yeongnam Alps, participants can choose from two courses: ‘Moonlight Dungdung Moonlight Journey’ and ’Eolssadungdung Valley Journey’. These courses allow attendees to explore the natural beauty of the Yeongnam Alps, including the Wangbanggol in Ganwoljae and the waterfall valley of Sinbulsan.

Children’s Experiences and Education
The festival also offers a variety of experiential programs for children. The ‘Let’s Enjoy!! Umph Playground!’ is a permanent installation featuring activities such as kids climbing, Umph Hill Climbing, and Fluffy Puppet Forest Playground. Additionally, children can participate in a graffiti class with the Ulsan University club ‘Gritter’ and create marionettes with artist Yang Ju-sik in the ‘Let’s Dance!! Italian Traditional Puppet Marionette Making’ program.
Science and Nature Exploration
The ‘Let’s Find Out!! Autumn Night Constellation Exploration!’ program is a unique blend of nature and science. In collaboration with Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology’s astronomy observation club ‘Astral’, participants can engage in a constellation quiz, create a simple telescope, and experience astronomy observation using professional equipment.

Umprod: A Meeting Place for Mountains, Nature, and People
‘Umprod’, a meeting place for mountains, nature, and people, will be open throughout the festival. Attendees can participate in various programs, including T-shirt recycling, vegan cosmetics demonstrations, and quiz events, without a separate reservation.
