Pentagon launches website to report UFO sightings

The US government wants to inform the public more about their work on UFOs. There should also be a reporting option. She is responding to criticism from several ex-military personnel.

The US government has created a website on which it wants to inform the public about sighted but as yet unidentified flying objects (UFOS). This is according to a statement from the Pentagon. According to the website, information about the work of the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) – a government agency that investigates unidentified flying objects and other phenomena – is to be provided.

The website www.aaro.mil already contains photos and videos of partly unknown flying objects. In an associated classification, AARO writes for the respective recordings whether it is a previously unknown flying object or whether there are indications that it could be a known flying object.

Website follows criticism and allegations in US Congress

The US government’s move follows a congressional hearing on unidentified flying objects in late July. The website is a response to criticism from several former military personnel. They complained, for example, that many sightings were not reported at all because the pilots were afraid for their jobs, for example.

A former US Air Force officer also claimed that the US government had been recovering and examining UFO parts “for decades”. When he tried to talk to his superiors about UFOs, he was also “brutally” treated by them, he criticized. He accused the US government of a cover-up. His statements cannot be proven. Nevertheless, the MEPs agreed on more transparency on this topic.

The website should now be a first step in this direction. In the future, citizens should be able to report UFO sightings there. A mechanism to protect whistleblowers is also to be introduced by the autumn. Until then, U.S. soldiers, U.S. government employees, and civilian aviators are encouraged to continue using the existing reporting mechanisms available to them through their organizations, the Pentagon said in a statement.
