Pentagon ⁢pizza theory resurfaces⁤ amid geopolitical tensions

⁤ Updated June⁤ 18, 2025

As tensions simmer between Israel and Iran, an old theory linking pizza ⁣consumption near the Pentagon to impending geopolitical events has once again gained traction.

The theory posits that a surge in business at pizza restaurants near the Pentagon precedes significant global events. The Pentagon, located ⁢in Arlington, Va.,⁤ serves‍ as the ⁣headquarters for the Department of ⁢Defense.

fueling the speculation is the X⁤ account @PenPizzaReport,‍ which describes ⁢itself as an “open-source tracker” of pizza sales ⁢around the Pentagon and elsewhere. ⁢On June 12, the account reported a “huge surge in activity” at several nearby pizza establishments, including ⁤We, the Pizza, Domino’s Pizza, District Pizza Palace and Extreme Pizza.

The timing of the post coincided with reported Israeli strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities, further igniting the theory.

When asked about the Pentagon Pizza Report and the underlying theory, the Department of Defense told FOX Business it had “nothing to offer” on the matter. Newsweek reported that a Pentagon spokesperson⁢ said the posts did “not ⁤align with the events.” The spokesperson added that the Pentagon has many pizza options available inside the building, as well as sushi, sandwiches, donuts ⁣and coffee.

Completed in 1943, the five-sided Pentagon building is ofen called the “nerve center”⁣ of the U.S.⁣ military.

What’s next

Whether the⁤ pizza-Pentagon connection holds any predictive power remains to be seen, but the theory is likely ⁣to persist ‍as long as global tensions remain high and ⁣pizza remains popular.
