Discount retailer Pepco has issued urgent safety recalls across multiple product categories, according to recent announcements from the company reported by Polish news outlets. The alerts, published on September 2, 2026, instruct consumers who purchased specific children’s toys and accessories to immediately stop using the items and return them to any store location for a full cash refund, as detailed by RMF FM and Korso Sanockie.
Toy Cage Recall and Choking Hazards
According to RMF FM, Pepco announced the withdrawal of a toy identified as “Ptaszki w klatce” (Birds in a Cage) under PLU number 632235. The item was available for purchase in stores between May 30, 2026, and June 16, 2026. The retail network operates more than 1,400 non-food discount outlets across Poland.
The company stated that the recalled toy presents a potential safety risk due to a manufacturing defect. In a statement reported by RMF FM, the network explained, In a portion of the products, the plug located in the base of the toy was incorrectly mounted, which in the event of a fall can cause a small part to be created and create a risk of choking.
Capybara Bracelet Defect and Laceration Risks
In a separate safety notice reported by Korso Sanockie, Pepco recalled a popular children’s accessory identified as the capybara bracelet, carrying PLU number 631925. This item was sold during the entire month of March 2026, specifically from March 3 to March 31, 2026.
According to Korso Sanockie, internal inspections revealed a production defect involving the item’s internal construction. A representative for the retail chain explained the hazard in an official announcement: The edge of the band located inside can cause the material to be cut, and this can result in the risk of injury.
Due to the potential for the internal wire or band to breach the fabric and cause cuts, management ordered a complete withdrawal of the product from circulation.
Refund Procedures and Consumer Instructions
For both recalled items, Pepco has instituted a streamlined return process for affected customers. According to RMF FM and Korso Sanockie, shoppers do not need to provide a purchase receipt or invoice to obtain a refund. Customers can bring the defective merchandise to any Pepco retail location to receive a full reimbursement of the purchase price. The company has also urged consumers to inform friends or family members who may have received the items as gifts or purchased them during the active sale periods. Both announcements included formal apologies from the retailer for the inconvenience caused by the safety withdrawals.
