From Tech to Integral Member
Born in London, Bamonte initially joined The Cure organization in 1984 as a guitar technician and assistant, providing crucial support to the band’s operations. He transitioned to a full-time performing member in 1990, quickly becoming a vital creative force within the group.
A Prolific Recording and Touring History
Over the course of his initial 14-year tenure, bamonte participated in over 400 live performances with The Cure and contributed to the recording of several critically acclaimed albums, including Wish (1992), Wild mood Swings (1996), Bloodflowers (2000), Acoustic Hits (2001), and the self-titled album, The Cure (2004).
A Return to Form and Legacy
Following his departure in 2004, Bamonte pursued other musical projects, notably with the band Love Amongst Ruin.He rejoined The Cure in 2022 for a highly accomplished run of 90 shows, described by the band as “some of the best in the band’s history.” This period culminated in a November 1, 2024, performance in London, captured for the concert film The Show of a lost World.
Bamonte’s contributions to The Cure were formally recognized in 2019 when the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Cure currently maintains a schedule of european festival appearances and headline shows planned for 2026.
