JAKARTA (AP) — State-owned energy firm PT Pertamina ‌is evaluating the government’s‌ proposal to tighten ⁣the ⁤distribution ⁣of subsidized fuel, specifically diesel. The initiative aims to ensure ⁢subsidies reach their intended⁤ recipients.

QR code System ⁢Remains in Place

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Pertamina’s⁣ Corporate Dialog Vice President, stated that the existing QR Code Mypertamina system remains the standard for regulating diesel subsidies for vehicles.

Speaking⁣ at Grha Pertamina in Jakarta on Monday, Santoso clarified, “currently, it’s not ‌about restrictions, but rather an arrangement for purchasing subsidized fuel, and this is still managed through the QR code system.”

Santoso added that the QR code system will remain in ⁣effect for subsidized diesel and⁢ pertalite‌ purchases until new official regulations are issued by the government.

“as long as⁤ updated regulations are pending, we will continue to adhere to the current system. Thus, individuals seeking⁤ to ⁤purchase subsidized diesel or pertalite can still ⁢utilize the‍ existing QR Code,” he said.

BPH Migas to Set Purchase Limits

Previously, the ‌downstream regulatory agency BPH Migas announced plans ⁢to tighten the distribution ⁤of diesel subsidies to guarantee accurate⁢ targeting.

Erika Retnowati, Head of BPH Migas, stated that the agency intends to establish limits on diesel fuel purchases.Currently, the limit is ⁤60 liters for four-wheeled vehicles.

“Based on current regulations, the diesel fuel⁢ volume limit is 60 liters for four-wheeled vehicles, 80 liters ⁤for six-wheeled vehicles, and 200 liters for vehicles with⁤ more then six wheels,” Retnowati ‍said during a hearing with Commission XII at the ⁢Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Feb. 10, ⁢2025.

Retnowati⁣ suggested‍ the existing limits are excessive, perhaps allowing purchases⁢ beyond a ⁤vehicle’s tank capacity.

“We believe the current limit is too high, exceeding tank capacities and⁢ creating opportunities for misuse,” she stated.

Study Justifies Tighter Controls

The decision to tighten controls followed a⁣ joint study by BPH Migas and Gadjah⁤ Mada University (UGM). In⁣ 2024, BPH Migas reported distributing 17.62 million kiloliters of subsidized diesel, an increase from 17.57 million kiloliters the previous year.

“Based on our study with the UGM Study Team, we will implement stricter volume ‍controls,” Retnowati explained.

Calculating Fuel Volume

BPH Migas also plans to calculate the volume of specific fuel types ‌(JBT) ⁤and Special Type of Fuel Assignments (JBKP) based on⁣ nozzle output. The⁢ agency is currently developing technical guidelines for volume‍ calculation.

“We are preparing the technical guidelines and awaiting the issuance of a regulation from the Ministry ‌of Finance. We will then establish technical guidelines for these calculations,” Retnowati concluded.

Pertamina & Fuel Subsidies: Your‍ Questions Answered

This article provides a comprehensive overview of Pertamina’s review of fuel subsidies, based on⁢ teh‍ information from the provided source. We’ll break down the key changes, regulations, and ⁢the future of subsidized fuel distribution.

What is Pertamina doing⁢ regarding fuel subsidies?

Pertamina, Indonesia’s state-owned⁤ energy‍ firm, is currently evaluating the government’s proposal to tighten the distribution of subsidized fuel, specifically diesel. This initiative aims to ensure that subsidies reach their intended ⁣recipients.

Why is the government tightening fuel subsidy distribution?

The tightening of controls comes after‌ a joint study by BPH‌ Migas (the downstream regulatory ⁢agency) and Gadjah Mada University ⁢(UGM). They found⁣ certain inefficiencies and potential misuse in the current system. The goal is‍ to ensure subsidized diesel is used correctly.

What role does‍ the QR code system play in diesel subsidy regulation?

The ⁤existing QR ⁤Code Mypertamina system remains the standard for regulating diesel subsidies for vehicles. Pertamina’s ⁢Corporate Dialog Vice President, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, confirmed that the QR code system is still in effect for subsidized diesel and pertalite purchases ⁣until ⁢new regulations are issued.

will there be any immediate changes to how I purchase subsidized diesel?

Currently, there is no immediate change to the purchase process.‍ The ⁣QR code⁢ system will remain in‍ place, so those seeking to purchase subsidized diesel⁢ or pertalite can continue to use the existing ‌QR code.

What are BPH Migas’ plans for diesel fuel purchase limits?

BPH Migas intends to establish⁢ limits on‍ diesel fuel purchases to ensure accurate targeting of subsidies. The current limits, as stated by ‍Erika Retnowati, Head of BPH Migas, are: ⁢

  • 60 liters for four-wheeled vehicles
  • 80 liters‍ for six-wheeled‌ vehicles
  • 200 liters for vehicles with more than six wheels

Why are⁣ the current diesel fuel volume limits under review?

Retnowati suggested ‌the existing limits may be too high,⁤ potentially allowing purchases beyond a vehicle’s ‌tank capacity,⁢ posing an prospect for misuse. The goal is to align the purchase limits⁤ with vehicle capacity to ensure subsidies are used correctly.

What data supports the need for ⁣stricter volume controls?

In 2024, BPH Migas distributed 17.62 million kiloliters of subsidized diesel, an‍ increase⁤ from 17.57 million kiloliters the previous year.⁣ The study by BPH Migas ⁢and Gadjah Mada University (UGM) ‍revealed the need for tighter controls, driving ⁣BPH Migas to take action.

How is the volume of subsidized fuel calculated?

BPH Migas also plans to calculate ⁤the volume of specific fuel ‌types (JBT) and Special Type of⁢ Fuel Assignments (JBKP) based on nozzle output. Currently, they are developing technical guidelines for these calculations. The agency is awaiting a regulation ‍from‍ the Ministry of Finance before finalizing the guidelines.

What ‍are ‌the next steps for implementing ⁤tighter fuel subsidy controls?

The⁢ agency‍ is currently ⁢preparing technical guidelines for calculating⁢ fuel volume based on nozzle ⁣output. They’re also awaiting the issuance of ‍a regulation‍ from the‌ Ministry of ‍Finance to finalize these calculations.

Summary of Current and ⁤Proposed Regulations

Here’s a swift overview in⁤ a handy⁢ table:

Aspect Current Status Proposed Changes (Based‌ on Information)
Subsidy Distribution Managed via Mypertamina QR code ⁣system. Ongoing review and potential tightening of controls.
Diesel Fuel Purchase ⁣Limits (for four-wheeled vehicles) 60 liters May be adjusted; review influenced by tank capacity and potential misuse.
Supporting Data Source Joint study by⁤ BPH Migas and Gadjah mada‍ University (UGM) Based on data from 2024 showing 17.62 million kiloliters ⁣of subsidized diesel distributed.
Volume Calculation Currently, the volume of subsidized fuel⁢ is being calculated. Working on technical guidelines for volume (JBT and JBKP) and awaiting regulation from the Ministry of Finance.

This table succinctly summarizes the key points ‍discussed in the article. It highlights the current rules, likely changes, and the data behind them, making ⁤it easy to understand the current state of fuel subsidies.
