Public sector oil companies IOC, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and HPCL have been hit hard by fuel prices in the country for months. There were reports that the losses of such companies could cross Rs 19,000 crore. It is in this context that companies are prone to price increases.

Along with the increase in fuel prices, there is also an increase in the price of cooking gas. The price was hiked by Rs 50 per domestic cylinder last week to Rs 13 per five-kg cylinder. The price of commercial cylinders was increased by Rs 250 last day.

In New Delhi, the revised price for a liter of petrol is Rs 102.61. 93.87 per liter of diesel. In Mumbai, a liter of petrol costs Rs 117.57 and a liter of diesel Rs 101.79. In Thiruvananthapuram, a liter of petrol costs Rs 114.14 and a liter of diesel Rs 101. In Kochi, petrol is priced at Rs 111.67 per liter. Diesel is priced at Rs 98.76 per liter. Kozhikode: Petrol price reached Rs 100 on August 5. Today, a liter of petrol costs Rs 112.14 and diesel Rs 99.23.
