Pfizer and Sputnik as booster doses; Approved by UAE

Abu Dhabi: The UAE has approved the use of Pfizer-Bioentech and Sputnik vaccines for emergency booster vaccination. The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) on Tuesday announced that it has begun offering booster pfizer shots to certain categories of residents.

The booster shots will be given six months after the second dose, health officials said, announcing eligibility criteria. Those who take the Pfizer or Sputnik vaccine after the synopham injection will not get booster shots.

Senior UAE nationals and expatriates aged 60 years and above

People aged 50-59 years with chronic diseases.

A spokesman for the UAE Health Department said the decision was based on studies and recommendations. Noura al-Ghaithi said. They added that the booster vaccine against Kovid may help to improve immunity, which gradually decreases after the first vaccine.
