Phangnga Wet Venture Deal Campaign Launched to Boost Tourism in Phang Nga Province

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) office in Phangnga has teamed up with local entrepreneurs to introduce the Phangnga Wet Venture Deal campaign. Running from July 15th to August 31st, the campaign offers a coupon worth 1,000 baht to be used as a discount on expenses in the Expat Group’s Phangnga Wet Venture Deal activity.

In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, Phang Nga Province generated over 5 billion baht in income from tourism. The province welcomed 4.9 million visitors, with 30 percent of them being Thai citizens, amounting to approximately 1.4 million people. The remaining 70 percent, about 3.4 million visitors, were international tourists. The average usage rate was recorded at 64.60 percent, with 24 percent of visitors residing in the area and 76 percent opting for day trips.

The market structure of foreign tourists visiting Phang Nga mainly consisted of Europeans, Eastern Europeans, Scandinavians, Asians, and Australians. During the third quarter of the year, between July and September, the average utilization rates for tourism activities were 46.60 percent, 40.14 percent, and 46.23 percent, respectively. This year, several international airlines have resumed operations at Phuket and Bangkok airports, indicating a promising recovery for tourism.

Recognizing this opportunity, the TAT Phang Nga, in collaboration with the Phang Nga Tourism Business Association and the Phang Nga Tourism Industry Council, has initiated the Phangnga Wet Venture Deal campaign. The campaign aims to stimulate the market by encouraging tourism businesses in Phang Nga Province to offer discounts and special deals on various tourism products and services, including accommodation, rafting activities such as Song Phraek, bamboo rafting, Khlong Sang Neh, ATV rides, and surfing. ATTA will then create travel packages for sale to foreign tourists and expatriates, with Phang Nga as a single or combined destination with Phuket, ensuring a minimum one-night stay in Phang Nga Province.

As part of the campaign, the TAT Phang Nga office is providing instant discount coupons worth 1,000 baht per person for travel activity packages under the Phangnga Wet Venture Deal. The coupons can be utilized by tourists who book packages offered by participating tourism businesses in Phang Nga Province between July 15th and August 31st, 2023.
