Painter has posted a 2.65 ERA through four starts for Lehigh Valley, striking out 20 batters in 17 innings. His fastball velocity has reached as high as 100 mph, averaging around 97 mph.Thomson emphasized that Painter’s health is the team’s top priority.
The Phillies plan to use the All-Star break, from July 14-17, as a period of rest and recovery for Painter.
