The Phillies (38-28) had struggled offensively during their 1-9 stretch, but found a way to win by executing small ball in the 11th inning. Bryson Stott started the rally with a bunt single, followed by Kemp’s perfectly placed bunt that loaded the bases.
Kemp,the Phillies’ No.24 prospect, had not bunted in a game since 2021. Despite this, he confidently assured manager Rob Thomson he could execute the play when asked about it in Pittsburgh over the weekend.
