Housemates Charged in Pheobe Bishop Murder Case

Two housemates of Pheobe Bishop, a missing 17-year-old, have been charged with murder, Queensland police announced Thursday. The charges come more than three weeks after Bishop’s disappearance.
James Wood, 34, and Tanika Kristan Bromley, 33, were taken into custody in the Bundaberg area. Bishop was last seen near Bundaberg Airport on May 15. She had booked a flight to Western Australia to visit her boyfriend,but CCTV footage showed she never made it inside the terminal.
Police stated that the remains of Pheobe Bishop have not been found. Detectives are continuing their investigation, and physical searches will continue as new information surfaces. Wood and Bromley also face two counts each of interfering with a corpse.
Wood was previously detained and released without charges. The search for Bishop was scaled back after weeks of combing areas of interest in southern Queensland, including a Gin Gin property where bishop lived with Wood and Bromley. That property, along with a gray Hyundai ix35 believed to have transported Bishop to the airport, were declared crime scenes.
initial searches focused on Good Night Scrub National Park, about an hour from Bundaberg Airport. Homicide detectives, cadaver dogs, and divers were involved. Authorities seized items for forensic examination,uncovering evidence suggesting items had been moved from the national park before their arrival.
Wood and Bromley had previously faced unrelated weapons charges. Pheobe’s mother, Kylie Johnson, has been using social media to plead for information.
“I don’t know if life will ever be the same again? I don’t know if I will ever look at the world the same way that I did before May 15th,” Johnson posted on Facebook.
Johnson added that people have information about her daughter’s whereabouts and urged them to contact the police. the community rallied around the family, launching a “Leave the Lights On for pheobe” campaign. Gin Gin residents posted photos of their lit front lights to guide Pheobe home.
