General Medicine Launches Telehealth Marketplace with Amazon Roots

A new digital health care marketplace, General Medicine, has emerged with $32 million in funding and notable ties ⁤to Amazon. ‍The company, billing itself as ⁤a “one-stop ⁣shop for expert care,” was co-founded by⁢ former Amazon employees, including the founders of PillPack, which Amazon ‍acquired in 2018.

general Medicine aims to‍ connect patients to it’s own telehealth medical practices and to outside care providers. Sunita Mishra, chief medical officer ⁢at Amazon Health Services, advised the company⁢ early on⁣ and ⁣is the physician owner⁣ of ‍one of General⁢ Medicine’s medical‍ practices, both General Medicine⁤ and Mishra confirmed.

Like many telehealth companies, General Medicine partners with medical practices owned by⁣ licensed physicians. The⁤ company stated it began transferring ownership of its medical practices to another physician owner, Pallabi Sanyal-Dey, before its launch.
