Pixel VIPs Feature Delayed: Google’s New Contact Tool Faces Slow ⁢Rollout

⁣ Updated June 12, 2025

The new Pixel VIPs feature, a‍ highlight of Google’s June Pixel Feature Drop, is not yet available to most users. This new tool, designed to enhance contact management, appears⁢ to be rolling out slowly, causing frustration among Pixel owners eager to try it.

Pixel VIPs is a ⁢widget powered by the⁣ contacts app, offering⁤ fast⁣ access⁢ to important information about key contacts.⁣ It displays reminders for birthdays, location status (if shared), conversation⁣ history, and⁢ note-taking sections, along with easy contact shortcuts. It’s essentially an upgraded version of the ⁣existing Contacts “Favorites” widget.

Upon the feature’s declaration, many‍ Pixel users checked the Google Play store for an update‍ to enable⁣ Pixel VIPs. ⁢Some even followed⁤ tutorials from the Pixel Tips app, but found the feature missing. Reports on Reddit and other platforms⁤ confirm that many users lack access to the new tool.

Google has promoted the Pixel VIPs feature extensively, including multiple posts on its blog and a video tutorial. The tutorial instructs users to⁢ find the “Pixel VIPs” option within the Contacts app’s “Organize” tab. ⁤However, this option is absent for many, ⁣leading to confusion and disappointment.

Google often employs staged rollouts for new features and app updates. While this approach allows for controlled testing and helps prevent widespread issues, ‍it can ⁤be frustrating for users anticipating immediate access to new tools. Some users‍ report ⁣having the ⁤feature, but a important number still do not.

The ⁤company’s slow rollout strategy contrasts with its approach to full Android system updates, which ⁤users can typically initiate manually. the reason for the discrepancy remains unclear, leaving some to question why smaller feature updates can’t be accessed in the same way.

In short, the absence of ⁢Pixel ⁣VIPs is due to Google’s gradual ⁣rollout. The exact timeline for when all users will receive the feature remains unknown.

What’s next

Pixel users can continue to check for updates to the Contacts app in the Google⁤ Play Store.‍ Keep an eye on tech news ⁢for any announcements regarding a wider release of the Pixel VIPs feature.
