‘Plagiarism Controversy’ Yoo Hee-yeol returns as Antenna’s second largest shareholder

Yoo Hee-yeol (pictured), CEO and founder of entertainment agency Antenna, bought a stake in the company and returned as the second-largest shareholder.

According to the Electronic Disclosure System of the Financial Supervisory Service on the 10th, Yoo Hee-yeol bought a 21.37% stake (2786 shares, about 3.2 billion won) in Antenna from Kakao Entertainment, the parent company of Antenna, on the 2nd and became the second largest shareholder.

The share of Kakao Entertainment, which had 100% of Antenna’s shares, decreased to 57.93% (7553 shares), and Yoo Hee-yeol became the second largest shareholder with 21.37%. The remaining 20.7% was owned by a third party.

In 2021, Kakao Enter bought a 100% stake, including a 19% stake in Yoo Hee-yeol, for about 10 billion won. Yoo Hee-yeol secured a 0.07% stake by investing 7 billion won, as it was part of the money received from the sale of the antenna at the time of Kakao Enter’s paid-up capital increase.

Yoo Hee-yeol plans to return as the second-largest shareholder after two years and focus more on management. In addition to Yoo Hee-yeol, Antenna started as a musician group with mainly singer-songwriters such as Lucid Fall, Jung Jae-hyung, Pepperphones, Kwon Jin-ah, and Sam Kim.

From 2021, starting with ‘national MC’ Yoo Jae-seok, they are expanding their lineup by recruiting Mijoo, Lee Sang-soon and Lee Hyo-ri from Lovelyz last year.

Yoo Jae-seok, Lee Sang-soon, and Lee Hyo-ri are close friends with Yoo Hee-yeol. Although they decided to work together, it is known that Yoo Hee-yeol bought shares of Antena to strengthen responsible management.

Yoo Hee-yeol suspended his activities in July last year after being caught up in suspicion of plagiarizing the late composer Ryuichi Sakamoto’s song. After leaving KBS2’s ‘Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook’, which had been in the works for 13 years at the time, he apologized, saying, “Looking at the countless situations that have been poured out over the years, I been able to look back. at myself from the beginning.”

However, regarding the plagiarism argument, he refuted, saying, “There are parts that are difficult to agree with the alleged plagiarism.”
