Pluribus Season 2: Vince Gilligan Asks Fans for Patience

‘Pluribus’ Season 2: Creator Asks for Patience as Writers Continue Work

Fans eager for the next installment of Apple TV’s critically acclaimed series Pluribus may have to wait a while longer. Creator Vince Gilligan has asked for patience as he and his writing team work on Season 2, acknowledging the process is proving to be a slow one.

Gilligan revealed the update during an Apple TV press day on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, according to reports. While confirming that writing is underway, he admitted they are “deeper into the process at this moment than I would like, considering how few episodes we have figured out.”

The first season of Pluribus concluded with a significant cliffhanger, leaving viewers anticipating what comes next. However, Gilligan cautioned against expecting a rapid turnaround similar to shows like The Pitt, which returned annually during its run. He expressed a desire for a quicker pace but acknowledged the complexities of developing the new season.

“It takes a long time to come up with these episodes,” Gilligan said. He added that the show might return “maybe the same month… It’s just a matter of what year.”

This slower pace echoes the development process of Gilligan’s previous hit, Better Call Saul, where gaps between seasons grew over time. Gilligan referenced his experience as an executive producer on The X-Files, noting that show once had a consistent annual return schedule, a rhythm he wishes Pluribus could achieve.

Pluribus garnered significant praise in 2025, earning a place on several “best of” lists, including one published by Consequence. The show’s success has brought both accolades – including recent wins for Rhea Seehorn at the Critics’ Choice Award and Golden Globes – and increased anticipation for the next season.

Gilligan thanked fans for their patience, recognizing the desire for new episodes. The first season of Pluribus is currently streaming on Apple TV.
