Swiss e-reader brand PocketBook is introducing a tall, phone-shaped e-reader called the PocketBook Q at the IFA 2026 trade show in Berlin, marking a major departure from the company’s traditional wider reader designs.
Dimensions, Display, and Hardware Specs of the PocketBook Q
The device measures 154mm × 75.8mm × 6.5mm and weighs 130g, making it lighter than the 131g PocketBook Mini released in 2013 and thinner than nearly any previous e-reader from the company. Under the hood, the hardware runs on a RockChip RK3566 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. PocketBook has equipped the small device with a 1550mAh battery designed to last well over a month of reading on a single charge. The 32GB storage capacity doubles what is available in the PocketBook Era, leaving ample room for books, comics, and audio files without expanding the physical dimensions of the chassis.
Interface, Software, and Reading Features
Designed specifically to fit in a pocket and encourage one-handed navigation, the PocketBook Q includes physical page-turn buttons located on the side. The hardware also incorporates an adaptive SMARTlight system that automatically adjusts screen brightness and color temperature throughout the day. For connectivity and physical durability, the e-reader supports dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless headphones, and a USB-C port with OTG support. It carries an IPX4 water resistance rating to handle minor splashes.
Format Support, Pricing, and Availability
The PocketBook Q natively supports 25 different e-book formats, including EPUB, PDF, MOBI, AZW, and CBR. Library borrowing is supported via Adobe DRM and LCP integration alongside the pre-installed PocketBook x Libby application. PocketBook has scheduled the device for release this fall at a retail price of €235 or $175, testing consumer demand for a dedicated e-reader built in a narrow, phone-like smartphone form factor.
