Nintendo Sues PocketPair for Patent Infringement Over ”Palworld” Game
(Central News Agency, Tokyo, 19, Comprehensive Foreign News Report) Japanese game developer PocketPair launched “Palworld” in January, which became a hit due to its similarity in style to Pokémon, earning it the nickname “Pokémon with a gun”.
Agence France-Presse reports that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed an infringement lawsuit against PocketPair.
“Palworld” sold over 5 million copies in just 3 days of release, featuring creatures similar to those from Nintendo’s popular “Pokémon” series.
Nintendo stated that it and The Pokémon Company “filed a patent infringement suit against PocketPair in the Tokyo District Court, seeking an infringement injunction and damages because ‘Palworld’ infringes on multiple patent rights.”
Nintendo also emphasized its commitment to protecting its intellectual property rights, stating that it will take necessary steps to combat any infringement.
