Pokémon Bank 3DS Service Shuts Down in February 2027

Nintendo has announced that the Pokémon Bank application on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems will officially terminate its online service on Friday, February 26, 2027, at 03:00 UTC, according to reporting by Nintendo-Difference. The shutdown means players will permanently lose the ability to transfer monsters stored in the cloud-based 3DS storage application into Pokémon HOME, marking the closure of a critical migration bridge for legacy titles.

Critical Deadlines for Nintendo 3DS Pokémon Transfers

According to reporting from Nintendo-Town, once the Pokémon Bank service shuts down, transferring creatures between the legacy Nintendo 3DS application and the modern Pokémon HOME platform will no longer be possible. Players who still have creatures stored inside Pokémon Bank must manually move them to Pokémon HOME before the February 2027 deadline to ensure they are preserved. Nintendo-Town also noted that Pokémon Bank is no longer available for download on the Nintendo eShop, meaning users who do not already have the application installed on their system will face severe hurdles if they attempt last-minute migrations.

Upcoming Pokémon HOME Version 4.1.0 Updates

In tandem with the 3DS service wind-down, a forthcoming update to Pokémon HOME will expand storage capacity for paid subscribers. As reported by Nintendo-Town, version 4.1.0 of Pokémon HOME is scheduled for release in October 2026. This update will allow users with a premium paid subscription to deposit up to 9,000 creatures, representing a substantial increase from the previous limit of 6,000. Nintendo confirmed that this storage expansion will not alter the pricing structure of the premium Pokémon HOME subscription.

Integration of Kanto Classics and Pokémon GO

According to Nintendo-Town, players who complete the main campaign and defeat the Elite Four in Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen will automatically receive a Mystic Ticket in their bag items. This key item allows players to encounter the legendary creatures Lugia and Ho-Oh. Similarly, the Aurora Ticket will be added to player inventories, granting access to the mythical creature Deoxys. Additionally, the October update brings changes for players moving specimens from mobile platforms. Nintendo-Town reports that users will finally be able to send creatures captured using Safari Balls in Pokémon GO directly into Pokémon HOME. Once these specimens arrive in Pokémon HOME, their original Poké Balls will automatically convert into Strange Balls, integrating mobile catches smoothly into the broader ecosystem before the 3DS infrastructure goes offline.
