Flock Safety Nova: AI-Powered Tool Tackles Human Trafficking
Updated June 04, 2025
Flock Safety has launched Flock Nova, a new technology designed to improve data sharing among law enforcement agencies. The goal is to enhance public safety and address the challenge of limited information access, according to CEO Garrett Langley.
Langley noted that officers might unknowingly stop a dangerous individual due to a lack of interstate data. Nova aims to bridge this gap, creating a more level playing field for law enforcement. The company previously found success with its license plate readers, which aided in the capture of a suspect in a Las Vegas Tesla facility arson case.
now, Flock Safety is focusing on combating human trafficking with Nova.langley said the decreasing law enforcement population and constant safety expectations create a meaningful workload issue, especially when addressing human trafficking, which can be arduous to solve.
Flock Safety’s Nova facilitates data sharing to help law enforcement fight human trafficking.
Over a recent weekend, a 36-hour operation called “Coast to Coast” utilized Nova across 19 states. The raids, involving 157 police agencies, targeted 26 illicit massage parlors, resulting in 74 arrests, the rescue of 87 adult and one juvenile victim, and the seizure of seven firearms and $1.09 million.
Andrew Romero, founder of Code Four Growth, stated that TraffickStop is proud to collaborate with Flock Safety, providing investigators with actionable intelligence to strengthen cases against traffickers. Romero, a retired organized crime detective, emphasized the importance of real-time intelligence in dismantling criminal networks.
Sgt. arthur Nelsen of Austin, Texas, highlighted the importance of technology in law enforcement. He said platforms like Nova increase access to investigative data, allowing officers to better serve their communities and support survivors.

Nelsen described a “three-pillar approach” to fighting human trafficking, which includes public-private partnerships like the one with Flock Safety. He added that Nova helps law enforcement proactively intervene while prioritizing survivor safety.
Nelsen emphasized the need for partnerships with civilian companies, such as AI software engineers,to integrate tactical knowledge into systems that benefit the entire community.

while Nova is AI-enabled, law enforcement agencies can choose whether to use these features, which is critically important for agencies in states with AI regulations.
Langley said that technologies like Nova enable law enforcement to operate with greater precision, allowing them to act surgically against crime.
What’s next
Flock Safety plans to continue developing and refining Nova based on law enforcement feedback, with the goal of further enhancing its capabilities in combating human trafficking and other crimes.
