Polish MEP ‘Snorted Like a Pig’ at Irish MEP: Complaint Filed

Complaint Filed After Alleged Incident in European Parliament

Brussels – A formal complaint has been submitted by Fianna Fáil MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú against Polish MEP Jacek Ozdoba, following an incident during a committee meeting in December. Ní Mhurchú alleges that Ozdoba “snorted at her like a pig,” a claim that has sparked controversy within the European Parliament.

The complaint, addressed to European Parliament president Roberta Metsola, details how Ozdoba’s actions disrupted the orderly proceedings of the meeting. Ní Mhurchú stated that the behavior was “base, vulgar, and crude.”

According to Ní Mhurchú, the incident wasn’t isolated. She also criticized the actions of another Polish MEP, Bogdan Rzonca, suggesting his response to Ozdoba’s behavior risked creating an impression of “bias and misogynistic behaviour towards female MEPs.”

The incident occurred during a meeting of the Committee on Petitions. A video circulating online, as reported by YouTube, shows a “furious exchange” where Ní Mhurchú accuses Ozdoba of making “pig-like” sounds while she was speaking.

The complaint was formally submitted on , according to the Irish Examiner. The matter is now under consideration by the President of the European Parliament.

The allegations have drawn attention on social media, with Griptmedia reporting on the story and sharing a link to the Irish Examiner article on Telegram. The incident is also being discussed on Facebook, where the Irish Examiner shared a post detailing the complaint.

No further details regarding potential disciplinary action or a response from Jacek Ozdoba or Bogdan Rzonca were available at the time of publication. The European Parliament has not yet issued a public statement regarding the complaint.
