Scuffle erupts at National technical University of Athens
Athens, Greece – A violent incident unfolded at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), also known as the Polytechnic Zografou, earlier today when a group of individuals clashed, resulting in injuries and prompting a police inquiry.
Details of the Incident
The altercation reportedly began around noon when a group of 15 to 20 individuals, described as wearing dark clothing and helmets and wielding bats, attacked a man within the university grounds. The incident was captured on video and later shared on social media, drawing widespread attention.
According to reports, the victim is believed to be associated with a rival group, suggesting a possible pre-existing conflict. The video circulating online shows the man being struck repeatedly after falling to the ground.
Eleftherios Stamatopoulos, a professor of Forestry-Environmental studies, shared the video on social media, labeling the scene a “civil war.”
Canteen Incident
Following the initial assault, a separate incident occurred at the university canteen. A canteen employee was reportedly attacked after asking individuals to refrain from posting flyers within the premises. The employee sustained minor injuries and intends to press charges, according to sources. Authorities have reportedly identified the individual responsible for the assault on the employee.
Investigation Underway
University officials have not yet released an official statement regarding the incidents. Police are investigating the matter and reviewing available video footage to identify all individuals involved and determine the motive behind the attacks.
