Porsche Unveils Special Edition 911 S/T to Celebrate 60th Anniversary

Luxury automaker Porsche recently unveiled the 911 S/T, a special edition sports car designed to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the iconic 911 model. Combining the best features of the 911 GT3 Touring package and the 911 GT3 RS, the 911 S/T boasts impressive driving dynamics and a powerful engine.

With a 525 horsepower 4.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine and manual transmission borrowed from the 911 GT3 RS, the 911 S/T delivers exhilarating performance. Its lightweight structure and optimized running gear ensure agile and responsive handling. The six-speed manual transmission offers a shorter gear ratio, resulting in quicker acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h. The addition of a mild sports exhaust system enhances the driving experience with a captivating sound.

The model name, 911 S/T, pays homage to Porsche’s first 911 race car, the 911 ST, which was known for its enhanced performance features. Porsche carried over the performance-oriented characteristics of the original 911 ST to the 911 S/T, combining elements from the 911 GT3 RS and the 911 GT3 Touring Package. This unique blend creates a truly exceptional driving experience within the 911 GT portfolio.

The 911 S/T stands out with its lightweight design, allowing for sharper and more direct handling. Carbon fiber reinforced plastic is used for the front bonnet, roof, front wings, and doors, reducing overall weight. The car also features magnesium wheels, a PCCB system, a lithium-ion starter battery, and lightweight glass. These elements contribute to a curb weight of just 1380 kg, 40 kg lighter than the manual 911 GT3 Touring.

Engineering innovation is evident in the 911 S/T’s design, with a new lightweight clutch and single mass flywheel that reduce rotational mass. The car is the only current 911 model to combine a double wishbone front axle design with a multi-link rear axle, enhancing stability and control.

While the aerodynamics of the 911 S/T have been optimized for road performance rather than track performance, the car still boasts an eye-catching design. Standard features include lightweight magnesium wheels, a Gurney flap on an extended rear spoiler, and high-performance tires that provide excellent grip. Inside, full bucket seats made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic offer a sporty yet comfortable seating option.

For an even more exclusive look, customers can opt for the Exclusive Heritage Design Package, inspired by the racing versions of the 911 S from the late 1960s to early 1970s. This package includes a unique exterior color, special wheel rim color, and the option to add a start number and decorative foil on the door. The classic Porsche Crest design is also engraved on various parts of the car, emphasizing its historical roots.

To complement the 911 S/T, Porsche Design has created the Chronograph 1 – 911 S/T, a unique timepiece that mirrors the design principles of the special edition car.

The Porsche 911 S/T is priced starting at 292,187 euros (about KRW 414.4 million), and the heritage design package costs an additional 17,505 euros (about KRW 24.82 million). Those interested in the Chronograph 1 – 911 S/T can purchase it for 11,950 euros (about 16.95 million won).

Overall, the Porsche 911 S/T is a remarkable celebration of the 911’s 60th anniversary. With its powerful engine, lightweight design, and unique features, it offers an unparalleled driving experience for enthusiasts who appreciate both performance and heritage.

Porsche unveiled the 911 S/T to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic 911 sports car.

The 911 S/T features driving dynamics that combine the strengths of the 911 GT3 Touring package and the 911 GT3 RS. Equipped with a 525 horsepower 911 GT3 RS 4.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine and manual transmission, it has a lightweight structure and running gear setup optimized for agile driving performance.

The 911 S/T’s high-revving engine delivers more direct dynamics via a six-speed manual transmission with a shorter gear ratio than the 911 GT3. Acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h takes just 3.7 seconds, and top speed reaches 300 km/h. The attractive sound of the mild sports exhaust system, fitted as standard, doubles the driving pleasure.

The model name inherits the performance-oriented characteristics of the brand’s first 911. From 1969 Porsche introduced a special race version of the 911 S. Called the 911 ST within the brand, the model has had improvements to the chassis, wheels, engine and body to improve acceleration and braking, traction and cornering grip significantly. At the time, the large spoiler and aerodynamic aids were before they were used. Porsche applied the identity of the original 911 S (ST) to the current 911 generation through the new 911 S / T. Combining elements from the 911 GT3 RS with the body of the 911 GT3 Touring Package, and lightweight elements specially developed for the 911 S/T, it offers a unique driving experience within the 911 GT portfolio.

The consistently lightweight design of the 911 S/T enables sharper and more direct handling. The front bonnet, roof, front wings and doors with unique air intakes are all made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic. The same applies to the roll cage, rear axle anti-roll bar and the shear panel, which is the reinforcing element of the rear axle. Additionally, the 911 S/T comes standard with magnesium wheels, a PCCB system, a lithium-ion starter battery, and lightweight glass. With less insulation, no rear axle steering and a lighter powertrain, the 911 S/T has a curb weight of just 1380 kg, 40 kg less than the manual 911 GT3 Touring.

Porsche engineers developed a new lightweight clutch for the 911 S/T and combined it with a single mass flywheel the weight of the rotating mass was reduced by 10.5 kg. The 911 S/T is the only current 911 model to combine a double wishbone front axle design with a multi-link rear axle without rear axle steering, and the dampers and control system have been adapted to that.

The aerodynamics of the 911 S/T have been optimized for the road rather than the racetrack. 20-inch front and 21-inch rear lightweight magnesium wheels with central locking and a Gurney flap on an extended rear spoiler are standard. Very high performance 255/35 ZR 20 tires with strong grip at the front and 315/30 ZR 21 tires at the rear are fitted respectively. Full bucket seats with carbon fiber reinforced plastic are provided as standard, and 4-way adjustable sports seats and more can be selected at no extra cost. The instrument panel and clock of the Sport Chrono Package are finished in classic Porsche green.

The 911 S/T offers an optional Exclusive Heritage Design Package inspired by racing versions of the 911 S from the late 1960s to early 1970s. In particular, the new Shore Blue Metallic exterior color and the Ceramica wheel rim color are only available for the 911 S/T models. A start number between 0 and 99 and a decorative foil can also be placed on the door. The 911 S/T also emphasizes its historical roots with the classic Porsche Crest design from the original 911 engraved on the front, hubcap, steering wheel, headrest and key.

In addition, it features a seat center made of fabric with a classic cognac color applied, which is another tribute to the brand’s heritage. Cognac Black/Classic leather, two-tone semi-aniline leather trim, Dynamica material perforated pattern roof lining and various elements from Porsche Exclusive Manufacture complete the package. The Porsche logo and 911 S/T model letters on the rear of the vehicle are decorated in gold colour.

Meanwhile, Porsche Design presents the chronograph 1 – 911 S / T, created for 911 S / T customers. The unique timepiece in a titanium case with a blast finish adheres to the light design principles of the Special Edition 911.

The selling price of the Porsche 911 S/T starts at 292,187 euros (about KRW 414.4 million) including VAT, and the price of the heritage design package is 17,505 euros (about KRW 24.82 million) including VAT. The Chronograph 1 – 911 S/T is offered for 11,950 euros (about 16.95 million won).
