MUMBAI: Rahul Dravid may step down as the coach of the Indian cricket team. BCCI Secretary Jai Shah confirmed that the advertisement for the new coach will be announced soon. Dravid, who joined the team in November 2021, was expected to renew his contract after the ODI World Cup. Currently, Rahul Dravid has a contract with BCCI till June. BCCI is expected to appoint a new coach after the Twenty20 World Cup.

Jai Shah responded that Rahul Dravid can apply again for the coaching job, but he is not interested in renewing the contract directly. “Rahul Dravid has a season till June. He has the right to resubmit his application if he wishes. BCCI’s advisory committee has to take the final decision on whether to hire a foreign coach.

“The advisory committee also decides if coaches are needed in each format. In India many players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant are playing in all formats. Currently, there is no need for separate coaches in each format. ” – Jai Shah to the media. Jai Shah said that the impact player rule in IPL is in the experimental phase and it will be decided after discussion with the teams whether this should be continued.
