PowerToys Run, a utility favored for it’s search capabilities and app launching, now has expanded functionality thanks to community-developed modules. These additions provide users with tools for speed test, video download, and vocabulary enrichment.
The speedtest module leverages the Ookla Speedtest CLI to provide local internet speed assessments without ads or third-party tracking. Users can simply type ”spt” in PowerToys Run to initiate a speed test, with results displayed in a separate window.The module supports both x64 and ARM systems.
The VideoDownloader plugin enables users to download videos from platforms like youtube. Users can specify video quality and format, including audio-only options, and choose a save location. Activating the plugin involves typing ”dl” followed by the video URL in PowerToys Run.
A Definition plugin offers vocabulary assistance, including word definitions, pronunciations, phonetics, synonyms, and usage examples.
