Mumbai: Former India player Ambati Rayudu is of the position that Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant should be India’s wicketkeepers in the Twenty20 World Cup. While Rayudu had predicted the 15-member squad for the Twenty20 World Cup, senior player Dinesh Karthik was the wicketkeeper. Rayudu’s stand is that Rajasthan Royals middle-order player Rian Parag and spinner Yuzvendra Chehal should be included in the team.
Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill are also absent from Rayudu’s team. Senior player Virat Kohli is also in the team which is led by Rohit Sharma. Rayudu replaced Hardik Pandya with Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Shivam Dubey. Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Mayank Yadav is also among the pacers.
The International Cricket Council has suggested that the teams for the Twenty20 World Cup should be announced before May 1. The Indian team will be selected based on their performance in the first phase of the IPL. It is not clear whether Rishabh Pant, who has returned from injury, will play in the BCCI World Cup team. Sanju Samson is in great form in IPL 2024. Rajasthan Royals, led by Sanju, are at the top of the points table.
