President Moon Jae-in said on the 16th, “Do your best to safely evacuate the government officials and Koreans who remain in Afghanistan until the last minute.”
President Moon gave such instructions to the relevant authorities this morning, Blue House spokesman Park Kyung-mi said in a written briefing.
President Moon also ordered that “the local situation will be informed to the people quickly and in detail.”
The current situation in Afghanistan is tense, with the Islamic militant political organization Taliban taking control of Afghanistan.
“President Moon has been receiving reports minute by minute regarding the recent situation in Afghanistan,” Park said.
