President Yun Seok-yeol is the first South Korean leader to attend a NATO summit.

During the weekend, we are working hard to prepare for the meeting without any public schedule.

This is his debut on the multilateral diplomacy stage 50 days after his inauguration.

President Yoon’s diplomatic move this time focused on strengthening cooperation in economic and security fields, such as global supply chain stability, beyond traditional military and security cooperation.

The anti-China and anti-Russian stance of NATO, a military alliance, is interpreted as an intention to protect the national interest by maintaining a reasonable distance and seeking export routes such as semiconductors and nuclear power plants.

“I think we can talk about various current issues in our country, as well as issues related to exports, if necessary.”

The biggest interest is the Korea-US-Japan summit, which is expected on the 29th.

The presidential office said it was finalizing the schedule, and it seems that the three-way cooperation plan in response to the North Korean nuclear and missile issue is expected to be discussed.

Bilateral talks between Korea and Japan are currently considered unlikely, but there is a possibility that brief talks will take place in the process of going to and from the conference room.

It is reported that Ms. Kun-hee Kim will also accompany her on this tour, and she will make a kind of international debut by attending the spouse’s session.
