Lee’s side is expected to ask for 250,000 won in support, and Special Prosecutor Chae Sang-byeong… President Yoon Seok-yeol and Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung will hold their first meeting at the presidential office in Yongsan on the afternoon of the 29th to discuss political issues. This is the first meeting between President Yoon and Representative Lee since President Yoon took office in May 2022, and attention is being paid to whether this will pave the way for cooperation between the ruling and opposition parties.

The meeting, which will begin at 2 pm today, will be held in tea-cham format without any restriction on the agenda.

The base duration will be 1 hour, but there will not be a separate time limit. There are three participants each: from the Office of the President, Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Hong Cheol-ho and Senior Secretary for Public Relations Lee Do-woon, and from the Democratic Party, Political Committee Chairman Jin Seong-jun, Chief of Staff Cheon Jun-ho and Chief Spokesman Park Seong-jun.

Representative Lee is expected to attend the meeting using “measures to restore people’s livelihoods” and “change in government policy” as two main keywords.

In particular, it is very likely that there will be strong demand for “the payment of 250,000 won in livelihood support to each citizen”, promised during the general elections. Furthermore, he is expected to urge President Yoon to refrain from exercising his veto (right to request a review) and urge the acceptance of various special prosecutors, including the Special Prosecutor Law on the suspicion of external pressure in Sang- Sang Chae of the Marine Corps’.

President Yoon intends to listen to Representative Lee’s requests for now.

However, it appears that the National Assembly will not separately express its acceptance of the legislative issue. Furthermore, it is reported that the Office of the President recognizes that the veto is an inherent authority of the President under the Constitution, so it is not an issue for which a separate apology is necessary.

A senior official from the president’s office said in a phone call: “What is urgent right now is the issue of people’s livelihood.

“First, I will sincerely listen to Representative Lee’s thoughts,” he said, adding: “It is not fair in terms of democratic procedures for the president to accept issues to be discussed between the ruling and opposition parties, such as the Special Prosecution Act .”

Opinions are expected to differ on how to resolve the legislative conflict.

The Office of the President seeks a clear position from the Democratic Party on the extent of the increase in medical schools, and the Democratic Party will likely propose the formation of a quadripartite consultative body involving the government and opposition parties, the government and the medical world. Community.

The meeting ended when President Yoon called Representative Lee on the 19th. Subsequently, the two sides agreed on the meeting agenda and format after three business meetings. /yunhap news
