President Yoon Seok-yeol’s approval rating improves in the 30s after 6 weeks

Poll results on the 28th showed that President Yoon Seok-yeol’s approval rating improved to the 30% level in six weeks.

According to the results of the Gallup Korea survey of 1001 adult men and women from the 25th to the 27th and published on the same day (the 95% confidence level and the sampling error ± 3.1% points), the rate approval for the presidential administration was 30%, up 3 percentage points since the previous week. The negative evaluation rate was 62%, down 3 percentage points from the previous week. President Yoon’s approval rating stood at 20% for the fifth consecutive week after recording 28% in the fourth week of a September survey by Gallup Korea.

By region, the increase was in Incheon/Gyeonggi (21% → 29%) and Daejeon/Sejong/Chungcheong (25% →33%). The approval rate in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam dropped by 4 percentage points to 34%. Seoul recorded an increase of 1 percentage point to 28%, and Daegu and Gyeongbuk recorded a decrease of 1 percentage point to 48%. By age, those in their 70s or older (52% → 63%) and those in their 30s (14% →22%) showed a clear increase.

Of those who evaluated President Yoon’s performance positively, 10% said national defense and security was the reason. 9% of respondents cited fairness, justice and principles as the cause of their positive evaluation, which increased by 6 percentage points in just one week. ‘Generally good’ accounted for 8%, and ‘elimination of corruption and corruption’ accounted for 5%.

As the cause of the negative evaluation, ‘not looking at the economy and people’s livelihood’ was the most common at 16%. This was followed by lack of experience and qualifications (11%), diplomacy (10%), general poor performance (7%), and dogmatic and one-sided (6%).

The party’s approval rating was 35% for the Democratic Party, 33% for People’s Power, 26% for the non-party, and 6% for the Justice Party. The Democratic Party rose by 2 percentage points from last week’s survey, and the strength of the people was the same as the previous week.
