Private aviation companies are intensifying their competition for high-net-worth clients during the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, by expanding their service offerings from flight logistics to luxury ground-based hospitality experiences.
The event has become one of the most significant dates on the private jet calendar, characterized by a high volume of wealthy attendees and a full week of scheduled activities. This creates a consistent demand for flights in and out of the region, straining the capacity of the Augusta Regional Airport.
Flight Volume and Market Demand
Major aviation providers are reporting substantial increases in flight activity for the tournament. NetJets, the industry leader, expects more than 775 flights to move through Augusta, which represents a 35% to 40% increase compared to the previous year.
Flexjet is projecting between 350 and 400 flights, while Vista projects more than 20 flights per day. Mike Silvestro, CEO of Flexjet, stated that Demand is off the charts
and described the Masters as like nothing else
.
The concentration of Gulfstream, Phenom, and Challenger aircraft during this period places the Masters in a similar category to other high-demand luxury events, including the Super Bowl, Davos, the Monaco Grand Prix, Art Basel, the Kentucky Derby, and Cannes.
Shift Toward Ground-Based Hospitality
As the market for air transport becomes saturated, companies are shifting their competitive focus to on-the-ground luxury experiences to retain and attract top clients. This strategy involves creating exclusive spaces where customers can relax and socialize near the golf course.

NetJets, Vista, and Wheels Up are all implementing hospitality strategies, including hosting parties and establishing luxury environments. As part of these efforts, Vista Global has sponsored the Vista House, a private residence located in Westlake, Georgia, specifically for use during the tournament.
Broader Trends in Luxury Golf Travel
The trend of integrating aviation with curated sporting experiences is extending beyond the Masters. In early March, Magellan Jets and Premier Golf announced a partnership to launch private jet travel packages that combine air charters with access to elite golf destinations.
These packages target affluent travelers who wish to eliminate commercial air travel from their itineraries to reduce friction and maximize time on the ground. The offerings include:
- Customizable bundles for corporate clients, families, and small groups.
- Joint planning teams that manage aircraft, lodging, transfers, and tee times.
- Access to marquee courses, including Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic and Pebble Beach in California.
- Personalized services such as handpicked caddies and preferred departure airports.
While the initial itineraries focus on iconic resorts in North America and the Caribbean, the partnership intends to extend this framework to destinations across Europe.
