On the 26th, following Science Po, there were protests inside and outside the Sorbonne University building.
The police intervened and the protesters pulled out a tent on the campus Following France’s prestigious political university, Sciences Po, a student protest calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was held at the Sorbonne University on the 29th (local time). There are signs that the pro-Palestinian protests that began on American university campuses will spread to France.

According to AFP, around noon on this day, dozens of students gathered inside and outside the Sorbonne University in Paris and held a rally in support of Palestine.

Among them, around 30 people set up a total of 12 tents in the yard and inside the building on campus and entered the sit-in protest. Sorbonne University closed the school building in the afternoon following the instructions of the president.

Some scheduled tests were also cancelled.

About 150 students who gathered outside the campus chanted, “murderers of Israel, helpers of the Sorbonne,” and sought citizen support, saying, “Don’t look at us, join us.” Laurelia Prezzo, a student who participated in the protest, said, “We gathered here at the request of students from Harvard University and Columbia University,” and added, “We plan to continue the protest following Sciences Po.”

Police entered the Sorbonne University campus at around 3 pm and removed the students protesting in a tent from the building.

In the video posted on the social networking services (SNS), the police grabbed the students’ bags on their backs and dragged them away. Other students who watched this booed and protested the violent police crackdown. Before the Sorbonne University, on the 26th, students belonging to the Palestine Committee held a sit-in protest occupying the building on the Paris Sciences Po campus.

At that time, hundreds of people were also protesting outside the building. The protest ended without any physical confrontation because a compromise was reached between the school administration and students in the evening.
