On the 2nd, rallies of progressive and conservative groups were held in various places in downtown Seoul.

On the same day, at 2 pm, a regular assembly of the conservative group Ilpamanpa was held next to the National Joint Incense Office for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in front of the Seoul City Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul.

At a rally, the Citizens’ Solidarity for Finding the Truth About COVID-19 and the bereaved families of those who were vaccinated strongly criticized the government, arguing ‘opposition to K- quarantine and vaccination’.

From 3 pm in front of Donghwa Duty Free Shop in Jongno-gu, the National Revolutionary Party led by Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon of Sarang First Church held a ’10 Million Signature Contest for Free Unification’. This is the 5th illegal gathering since the ’10 million prayer meeting to commemorate the March 1st Independence Day’ on the 1st.

According to the current social distancing guidelines, a rally can only have 299 people, but more than 500 people holding the Taegeukgi and the Stars and Stripes gathered and there was no room for footsteps. About 100 people gathered in front of the nearby Kyobo Building, turned on the electric billboard, and participated in the rally together.

The progressive ‘Candlelight Action Coalition for Reform and Transformation’ also held a ‘second candlelight vigil for men and women of all ages’ in Myeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul at 5 pm and criticized President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol. Regarding the relocation of the Blue House office to Yongsan, they urged the reform of the prosecution, saying, “The transition committee does not have the authority to move the office of the president.”

Those who had previously attended the ‘Democratic Party Special Prosecutor’s Request’ held in front of the Democratic Party Building in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul also participated in the rally, and nearly 200 people gathered at the scene. The police also installed fences following the order line, and citizens had to pass through narrow passages.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon of the same day, the National Public Transport and Social Service Union (Public Transport Union) of the KCTU also held a declaration ceremony on the Jeontaeil Bridge in Jongno-gu, Seoul, saying, ‘If this is the second march of irregular workers of the Public Transport Union, I will go to the Blue House’.

They urged, “The current government is responsible for not being fulfilled even though the conversion to regular workers should have been completed.”
