Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), ⁢the Champions ⁢League title holders,⁢ are embarking on a project to build a new stadium,‍ drawing ⁤inspiration ⁣from state-of-the-art venues in Los⁢ Angeles,‍ according to CEO Victoriano ⁢Melero. The move aims to enhance the fan ⁢experience⁤ and diversify revenue streams for the club.

PSG is considering locations outside their current home, the 48,000-capacity Parc des Princes. Melero saeid team officials will spend the next year evaluating⁤ potential sites in Massy and Poissy, with a focus on incorporating a variety of entertainment options.

Melero, speaking in Los Angeles ⁢before PSG’s Club World Cup match in Pasadena, said the club’s next challenge is building a new stadium. He noted the ⁢team will analyse options ‍for the next year, drawing ⁤inspiration from U.S. sports ⁤facilities.

“One example here is SoFi Stadium,” Melero said.”It’s incredible and much more‍ than a sports facility ⁢– it ‍really ⁢is part of‍ entertainment and shows.⁤ So that is what we really want to push to diversify our revenue.”

SoFi Stadium, which opened in 2020 at a cost of $5 billion, serves‍ as a model for PSG’s vision. The stadium⁤ is home to the NFL’s Rams and Chargers and ⁢hosts major events like concerts and will be a⁣ key venue for the upcoming World Cup and the 2028 los Angeles olympics. The stadium is located in ‍Hollywood park,⁤ adjacent to the Intuit Dome, the NBA arena that opened last year.

While the new stadium is⁤ under construction,‍ PSG will continue to play at ⁤Parc des Princes. The club ⁣is valued at $4.4 billion, with Qatar Sports Investments holding 87.5% of the shares and U.S.-based Arctos partners owning the remaining 12.5%.

Adrien Frier, the French consul-general in Los Angeles, highlighted the role of U.S. fans and investors in PSG’s success. He described the club as a “unicorn” with “American blood in it” at a Beverly Hills reception⁢ where the Champions League trophy was displayed.

PSG boasts an estimated five million ⁤fans in the U.S. and has benefited from its partnership with Nike’s Air Jordan brand,further solidifying its global presence and ⁣appeal.
