[서울=뉴시스] Reporter Nanyoung Kim = With the war in the Gaza Strip more than 200 days old, a public opinion poll showed that one in four Americans do not trust Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at all.

On the 25th (local time), the public opinion polling company Pew Research Center published the results of a survey showing that 52% of Americans have little trust in Prime Minister Netanyahu.

However, 25% of respondents said they did not trust him at all, accounting for one fourth of respondents.

In the same survey last year, 42% of Americans said they had little trust in Prime Minister Netanyahu. At the time, 17% of respondents said they did not trust Prime Minister Netanyahu ‘at all’.

The ‘completely suspicious’ response rate has increased by 8% in one year.

However, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s own popularity has risen. In the same survey last year, 26% responded that they had not heard of Prime Minister Netanyahu, while in this year’s survey, the proportion of respondents who responded the same dropped to 15%.

By political party, the Democratic Party respondents often distrusted Prime Minister Netanyahu. In the same survey, 71% of Democratic respondents responded that they had little or no trust in Prime Minister Netanyahu.

On the other hand, in the case of the Republican Party, 13% responded that they did not trust it completely, and 21% responded that they did not trust it much. 34% of Republican respondents responded that they trusted Prime Minister Netanyahu to some extent, and 17% said they trusted him a lot.

By age group, the younger the group, the lower the trust in Prime Minister Netanyahu. 32% of respondents between the ages of 18 and 29 said they did not trust Prime Minister Netanyahu at all, and 23% said they did not trust him much.

Among respondents aged 30 to 49, the proportion of respondents who were ‘completely suspicious’ fell slightly to 28%, and the proportion who did not trust him at all increased slightly to 29%. Among those aged 50 to 64, 23% responded that they did not trust him at all and 28% responded that they did not trust him very much.

For those over 65, the percentage of people who completely distrusted him dropped to 20%, and the response that they did not trust him at all was 28%. In this age group, 28% of respondents said they trusted him somewhat and 17% responded that they trusted him a lot.

Since the Hamas flood attack in Al-Aqsa on October 7 last year, Israel has been conducting a clearance operation in the Gaza Strip for over 200 days.

There is speculation that an attack on Rafah, the southernmost part of Gaza, where many refugees are currently, is imminent.

This survey was conducted on 3,600 American adults from 1st to 7th.

The sampling error is ±2.1% points.
