In the world of badminton, PV, a determined young girl from Kerala, stands out as a rising star. Inspired by the captivating performances of Sindhu and Saina Nehwal, PV aspires to become the world’s top badminton player in the near future. Her dedication and talent have already earned her a place in the top three positions in the state championships for the under-15 and under-17 categories.

A Power Couple in the Making

Interestingly, PV shares her life with another exceptional athlete, Sahal Abdul Samad, a prominent player in the Indian football team as well as Kerala Blasters FC. Together, they form a power couple who are leaving no stone unturned on their journey to success. Notably, Sahal himself clinched the state championship in the under-10 category.

The Farhat family, which includes Sahal, recently relocated from Kasaragod to Kochi. During her academic years, PV attended Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kadawantra. Post that, she pursued a B.Com degree from St. Teresa College, Ernakulam.

A Track Record of Achievements

Reza Farhat, PV’s full name, boasts an impressive record in various state and national level badminton championships. Excelling in doubles matches, Reza has amassed numerous accolades in both women’s and mixed doubles events throughout her career. Initially, she proved her mettle in singles as well. Her achievements include winning silver medals in women’s doubles and mixed doubles at the prestigious All Kerala Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament held in Kottarakkara in 2019.

In the same year, Reza emerged as the champion in women’s doubles at the All Kerala Senior Ranking Tournament in Ottapalam. Furthermore, she secured a bronze medal in mixed doubles. At the national level, Reza garnered attention as the doubles runner-up at the All India Ranking Tournament held in Vijayawada in 2012.

A Journey That Started at Kadavantra Regional Sports Centre

Being a resident in close proximity to the Kadavantra Regional Sports Centre, Reza’s passion for badminton ignited after witnessing her friends’ gripping matches there. Recognizing her potential, renowned coach MJ highlighted a promising future for her in the sport. Reza’s mother, Sajna, credits Mohanachandran as the first person to recognize her talent. Subsequently, her parents enrolled her in the Regional Sports Centre, where she received training under the expert guidance of Balachandran Thambi before continuing her development with Mohanchandra.

Her hard work and perseverance paid off as Reza clinched the state championship title in the under-10 category. Since 2010, she has consistently secured triumphs in various national championships under the esteemed institution, Kendriya Vidyalaya. In 2014, she celebrated victory as the state doubles champion in the under-15 category, partnering with the talented Wayanad girl, PC. Notably, Reza displayed her prowess by securing second place in the singles category for both under-15 and under-17 divisions during the state championships. Later on, she trained under former National Champion Sanaway Thomas and Joy T.

This young badminton prodigy, with her extraordinary talent and unwavering determination, continues to make waves in the sporting world. As she sets her sights on greater heights, PV exemplifies the spirit of a true champion.

In 2014, he became the state doubles champion in the under-15 category with the first season. In the under 17 category, Wayanad girl PC won the doubles title along with Monisha.
