Tariq Salman, defender of the Qatari national team, admitted that the (Al-Anabi) team’s arrival in the 2023 Asian Football Nations semi-finals is a great achievement, but he stressed that his team has a greater ambition to qualify for the final match and compete for the continental title.

Qatar’s national team (the defending champion) will meet its Iranian counterpart tomorrow, Wednesday, at Al Thumama Stadium in the semi-finals of the tournament currently being held in the capital, Doha.

Salman said in the press conference to talk about the match on Tuesday, “The match is certainly very difficult and we suffered a lot from the pressure of the matches and fatigue, but we feel very excited and we will play with extreme focus in order to achieve victory and qualify for the final match.”

He added, “The team’s morale is high, and everyone wants to give their best against a strong team that includes distinguished players in all positions and who play in Europe with big clubs. This is an incentive for us to give 200% during the match to make our fans happy and proud of us and the result we achieve.”

The Qatari national team player explained, “We won the title in 2019, and today we are looking to reach the second final in 2024 and get the cup, and this is our goal that we are focusing on with all our might.”

He continued, “The Iranian national team is looking to regain the title that has been missing from it for many years. Therefore, it will enter the match with all strength and focus. Therefore, the match will be difficult for both teams, but we hope that we will be successful and obtain the qualification ticket.”

Tariq Salman revealed that the Qatar national team’s ambition is to reach the final, explaining that he and his teammates have great confidence in themselves and are proud of what they have achieved so far, and they want to continue the journey to reach the farthest point in the competition.

At the end of his statements, the Annabi defender wished that Akram Afif, Hassan Al-Haydos and Al-Moez Ali would be at their best and score the net to lead the team towards victory and qualification for the final.

It is noteworthy that the winner of that match will meet in the final match next Saturday with the winner of the other semi-final match between the Jordanian and South Korean teams, which will be held later today.
