2024 Hangzhou Open: Singles Draw Results Released

Hangzhou, September 16 – The 2024 Hangzhou Open (ATP250 event) singles main draw ceremony took place in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, on September 16. Chinese stars Zhang Zhizhen and Wu Yibing will face qualifiers in the first round, while top seed Rune, No. 2 seed Khachanov, No. 3 seed Echeverri, and No. 4 seed Brandon Nakajima enjoy byes in the first round.

The 2024 Hangzhou Open marks the beginning of Hangzhou’s ATP250-level events and its membership in the ATP Tour family. The tournament features 28 singles main draws, 16 singles pre-draws, and 16 doubles main draws, with contestants competing for a total prize of over $1 million.

The top two seeds, Rune and Khachanov, are in the upper and lower halves of the main draw, respectively, and have byes in the first round. Grand Slam champion Cilic is in the upper half and will face American player Shvajda in the first round. The third seed Echeverri and the fourth seed Brandon Nakajima also have byes in the first round.

Chinese players Zhang Zhizhen and Wu Yibing are set to make a strong appearance in the tournament. Zhang Zhizhen, the men’s singles champion of the Hangzhou Asian Games and the silver medalist of the mixed doubles tennis at the Paris Olympics, will play as the No. 6 seed against a qualifying player in the first round. Wu Yibing, the first ATP Tour singles champion of Chinese mainland men’s tennis and a native player of Hangzhou, is in the upper half of the draw and will face a qualifier in the first round.

Another Chinese player, Buyun Chaoket, will face Frenchman Gaston in the first round. If he can pass the qualifier, he will challenge the No. 2 seed Khachanov. The tournament will be held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Tennis Center from September 17 to 24, with the singles preliminaries taking place on September 17 and the main competition held over the next 7 days.

The semi-finals and finals will be held on September 23 and 24, respectively. Chinese stars Zhang Zhizhen and Wu Yibing are set to appear together in the competition on September 19, drawing much attention to the event.
