The back issue was evident during her quarterfinal loss to Zheng Qinwen at the Queen’s Club Championship on Friday. Raducanu took a medical timeout during the match but ultimately fell to the Chinese world No. 5 in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Raducanu acknowledged her performance against Zheng was not up to par and emphasized the need for rest to address her back issue. Despite the defeat, Raducanu secured a double break in the second set, briefly leading 3-0 after the timeout.
“I’ve played five matches in a pretty short amount of time.I’m probably feeling that, so I need to let the back rest and see how it goes from there,” Raducanu told the BBC.
