During the 5 days under the influence of the monsoon system rising from the Bay of Bengal (Tuesday), the highest rainfall in Karachi was 226 mm (about 9 inches) recorded in Sarjani Town, the highest rainfall in the entire month of August was 385 mm in Sarjani Town.
The Meteorological Department has released rainfall data in Karachi between 27 and 31 August. The Meteorological Department said that the maximum rainfall during 5 days was 226 mm in Sarjani Town, while 175 mm rain was recorded in Gulshan Hadid and 161 mm rain in Quaidabad.
The Meteorological Department said that between August 27 and 31, 122 mm of rain fell in Nazimabad, 105 mm in Kemari, more than 100 mm in Korangi and North Karachi, while 95 mm of rain was recorded in Faisal Base and 77.5 mm at Oldairport.
The Meteorological Department says Gulshan Mimar received 75.6 mm of rain from 27 to 31 August, Jinnah Terminal 75 mm, Maswarbais 62.5 mm, Bin Qasim 56.3 mm, Orangi Town 44.3 mm, DHA Phase II 43 mm.
During 5 days, the lowest rainfall was 37 mm in Sadar and 30 mm in Gardap.
Cyclone Asna Update
On the other hand, Cyclone Asna moved further away from the coastal belt of Sindh including Karachi.
According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone has moved further away from the coast of Sindh and the storm is in the north-east of the Arabian Sea, while the storm is moving towards the west, which is 230 km from the south-west of Karachi.
According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone is approaching the coast of Balochistan, the storm is 180 km away from Ormara and 300 km away from Gwadar.
